In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale

Who knew Jason Statham could make a bad movie? In the Name of the King was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It's a cross between Lord of the Rings and Braveheart (with a touch of matrix at the end) with an all star cast: Jason Statham, John Rhys-Davies, Ron Perlman, Ray Liotta, even Burt Reynolds.

Basically it's a tale of a commmon man (Farmer) and how the Krugs (Orgs?) invade his village, kills his son, and take his wife. He must get her back.

We follow his journey to rescue her and meet the tree elfs. Oh boy, pretty little things coming from the trees and attacking with tree vines. Puhleeze. The big twist, which isn't a twist at all comes about 1/2 way through.

Check out any of his other flicks, but wait for this one to hit the $5 bin. 1/2 star, only cause I like him.

Gran Torino

GREAT flick! I expected a rough em up, Dirty Harry type movie. That's not what I got. Sure, Clint is a tough guy and he definately puts the punks in their place, but this was a movie about human relationships.

It's a sweet, sensitive story that left me in tears long after I left the theater. There's enough violence for Dirty Harry fans to not feel denied, but the human side keeps the rest of us interested.

Look for this one to win some awards. 5 Stars!

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

I was invited to see this movie, but wasn't able to go. Turns out, that's OK.

This is a story of a man to reverse ages. I've heard from several friends that this movie was long and slow.

Don't waste theater dollars on this, wait for the DVD.

Bolt

Sweet and clever story. The animation was good and ending was predictable. But, so what? It's a cartoon.

It's a story about a dog who thinks he's a super hero. He finds out differently with the help of a street saavy cat. His wanna be side kick is a hamster with the best facial expressions I've seen in animae. Worth seeing - 4 stars
